Ghana Renal Health Foundation is building Ghana's most accessible dialysis network — breaking the cost barrier that currently denies life-saving treatment to over 90% of patients who need it.
Who We Are
Ghana Renal Health Foundation is a Company Limited by Guarantee registered in Ghana, established to build accessible, sustainable, and dignified kidney care for every Ghanaian — regardless of income or location.
Founded in Accra to directly address the 90%+ dialysis access gap that leaves most kidney patients without any treatment option.
Governed by a Board of Trustees including Ghanaian medical professionals, legal advisors, and patient community representatives.
Supported by an international partner entity — Ghana Renal Health Foundation, Inc. (US 501(c)(3)) — enabling diaspora fundraising and foundation grant access.
Operating in full compliance with Ghana Health Service, NHIA accreditation standards, and Ghana's Data Protection Act 2012.
Why We Exist
We exist to transform Ghana's kidney care landscape — from one defined by scarcity, cost, and death to one defined by access, equity, and dignity.
To save and transform the lives of Ghanaians living with kidney disease by building accessible, sustainable, and dignified dialysis healthcare infrastructure — beginning in Accra and expanding nationally.
A Ghana where every person with kidney failure has access to life-sustaining dialysis treatment, regardless of their income, location, or insurance status.
We work with — not around — the Ghana Health Service, the National Health Insurance Authority, and the Ministry of Health. Systemic change requires systemic partnerships.
What We Do
Our services are designed to meet patients where they are — financially, clinically, and geographically.
20-station dialysis centre in Accra offering 4-hour sessions on a tiered pricing model — NHIS-subsidised, low-income, standard, and private tiers ensuring access for all.
Registered NHIS provider enabling enrolled patients to access subsidised dialysis sessions, dramatically reducing out-of-pocket costs for the most vulnerable patients.
Free annual CKD screening camps in high-prevalence Accra communities — Nima, Agbogbloshie, and others — targeting early diagnosis before kidney failure sets in.
Certified training for Ghanaian nurses and dialysis technicians in partnership with international equipment manufacturers — building national clinical capacity.
Transportation stipends, social work counselling, peer support groups, renal dietary education, and financial guidance for patients and their families.
Community education on CKD risk factors — hypertension, diabetes, and harmful herbal preparations — plus policy advocacy for expanded NHIS dialysis coverage.
Our patient intake team can assess your eligibility and find the right payment tier for you.
